Artist: Yung Artsy
Josh Waldropt is a Singer/Songwriter/Rapper from the island nation of Trinidad & Tobago known by his stage name of Yung Artsy. Yung Artsy is a story about an island boy who has had to overcome many obstacles while dealing with assimilating between two cultures. Originating from a small country such as Trinidad & Tobago, his family always believed in the American dream. However, when he immigrated to New York he quickly learned that the American Dream was far from what was advertised.
Upon arriving in the United States his way of life had changed drastically and he realized he had to start over and relearn himself again. Which is where his journey really began. As part of his growth process Josh had to learn how to make sense of the many cultures that he was exposed to while maintaining his own individuality. Through this, he developed multiple views of the world.
Much of Yung Artsy’s music meditates on fashion, style and the view what it’s like to beat the odds to success as an immigrant in the United States. He had to learn multiple lessons such as, needing to break rules in order to create new ones, how to look at everything the world has to offer from different angles. Drawing on influences such as Future and Lil Durk Yung, Artsy utilizes a unique combination of Lyricism and Melody to tell his story.
